Confident High Schooler Plans to Wow LaVar Ball at Atlanta JBA League Tryout


The Atlanta tryout for the JBA League begins this weekend and one prospect can’t wait to show his skills. Markell Wills, or the “Persian Prince”, shined at Columbia High School in Decatur, Georgia this season, and after being overlooked by colleges, believes his opportunity lies with LaVar Ball’s JBA League.

The 6-foot-4 guard gave his thoughts on the league and his expectations while speaking with Fresh Sports Talk.

What went into your decision to go out for the upcoming Atlanta JBA League tryouts?

Markell Wills: The opportunity to showcase my skill that is being overlooked and giving me and my family a chance to make it possibly.

What are you looking forward to bringing to the JBA should you make it?

If I make it, I feel like I will bring a lot of excitement to the league, and also a lot of dunks and a championship for me and my team?

What part of your game will you try to showcase Sunday at the tryout?

My 3-pointer, and my ability to get to the rim and finish with dunks.


Are you down with wearing Big Baller Brand gear?

The [triple B] way is the only way! I would love to wear the gear ‘Get ya merch’! [laughs]

What do you want LaVar to know about you before you try out?

LaVar should know I can get the crowd hype, and me and him should have a lot of fun times because he’s historical, and I’m pretty funny. He’s my role model. Everything he does is great for the community and the basketball industry.

What are you most looking forward to in the tryouts this weekend?

I’m looking forward to showcasing how I can play in an environment that is packed.

The stage will be set for Markell as well as the rest of the Atlanta-area ballers hoping to be a part of history this weekend.
