LaVar Ball and Kendrick Lamar Have Something in Common

It takes very little for LaVar Ball’s name to make the rounds around the media for anytime he opens his mouth. Typically, the masses will twist his words into something that is so far left field, it’s best to just leave it there and take it for what it’s worth. However, one thing that cannot be disputed is the realness that is exuded from the makeup of one LaVar Ball. To a fault, he’s too true to himself, in which he expects the same in return from whomever he comes in contact with. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case.

For Kendrick Lamar, he has ingratiated himself with many hip hop heads for his raw and authentic nature. Regardless of whether you agree with his positions, he is true to himself and could care less how anyone feels about it. In 2017, his hit song “DNA” mentioned many of the attributes already stated in this article that he believes describes himself. One of them is loyalty.

Just this past week, LaVar criticized BC Vytautas coach, Virginijus Seskus for betraying his trust, which is something he would never do. LaVar also revealed how this was tested when Zalgiris Kaunas, the top team in the LKL, reached out to the LaVar about LaMelo playing for them in the Adidas Next Generation Tournament. While speaking with Lietuvos Rytas’ Laura Ivaskaite, the Big Baller said this:

“Where were you before the success came? Where were you before when you said we didn’t want your boys?” LaVar told Lietuvos Rytas’ Laura Ivaškaitė. “Don’t wait ’til my boys is over here in Lithuania, doing things, scoring all these points.

“Now you like, ‘We got more money, come over here, we better.’ Excuse my language, but [expletive] you ’cause you wasn’t even in the building when we was here in the beginning.”

For LaVar, this is bigger than just basketball. He desires to build impactful relationships that all parties can benefit from. Take for instance the monies gifted to the very club his sons play for. He helped rescue them from financial woes they endured for years. Not only that, but turning down the opportunity for maximum exposure with a better team is hard for many people to pass up.

Unless you’re LaVar Ball, and you have loyalty inside your DNA.
